WACO, Texas - The No. 3 seed Fresno State equestrian team opened up the Big 12 Championship weekend with a 14-6 loss to the No. 2 seed Oklahoma State on Friday. The Bulldogs fall to the consolation round and will face No. 4 seed Baylor on Saturday.
No. 1 seed TCU defeated Baylor on Friday, 10-9.
How it happened
The 'Dogs and Cowgirls opened up competition with a close showing in the reining, Oklahoma State took the event 4-1 as Alana Becker earned the Bulldog point in a 71.5-71.17 showing. Although not winning another point, no Bulldog loss was by more than two points as the 'Dogs rode close with Oklahoma State in the opening event.
Oklahoma State took the fences, 4-1. Olivia Ferro won the Bulldog point in a 75.67-0 ride.
At the half, Oklahoma State had an 8-2 lead.
Fresno State had a big showing in horsemanship, taking the event 3-2 behind points from Emily Maul, Kendra Lee and Abby Goddard.
After three events, the Bulldogs trailed 10-5.
Fresno State fell flat in the flat, scoring only one point in a 70.67-59 ride by Autumn Bradbury.
