'Dogs fall to Rebels in Vegas

LAS VEGAS - Fresno State women's tennis teams fell to the Rebels in their first conference road match of the season at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on Thursday morning, 4-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Rebels got to work quickly in the doubles matches earning the doubles point. UNLV's Kovcas/Vinahradava defeated Matilde Magrini and Misaki Kobayahsi (6-0) on court one, while Aher/Fang defeated Hannah Pieper and Charlotte Gisclon 6-1 on court three, leaving Eliza Dunbar and Carolina Piferi's match unfinished at 4-3.

Going into singles matches UNLV took the lead, after taking the first two singles matches, 3-0. Dunbar falls to Fang first on court six 6-1, 6-1. Rebels' Zhao defeats Mariya Vyshkina 6-1, 6-3. Piferi gained the Bulldogs first point after taking the second set forcing a third. Piferi earns her ninth straight win at No. 3 singles defeating Hu 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Fresno State had a chance to work for a comeback win with Magrini and Pieper fighting for a win in the third set. UNLV's Aher defeats Kobayashi 7-6, 6-1 at No. 2.

UP NEXT: Bulldogs continue their road trip and head further out east to Reno. Fresno State will take on Nevada (7-7, 1-3 MW) on Saturday at 12 p.m. PT / 1 p.m. MT.
