COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fresno State senior Matthew Manganello was named the Mountain West Golfer of the Week for tournaments played March 22-27, announced by the conference on Thursday.
Manganello placed third at the Duck Invitational hosted by Oregon at the 6,997-yard, Par 71 Eugene Country Club, March 25-26. The 15-team field featured seven Top 60 teams including No. 18 Illinois, No. 25 Oregon, No. 32 Oklahoma State, No. 38 Northwestern, No. 45 LMU, No. 52 San Jose State and No. 59 Oregon State.
The Las Vegas, Nev. native shot a 2-under 211 at the invitational in a field of 88 individuals, recording his second top-10 finish of the season. He carded a 3-under 68 in the first round, 2-under 69 in the second and finished with a 3-over 74 in the final round.
This is his first MW weekly award of the season, the third of his career in addition to earning monthly honors once.
The Bulldogs are back in action April 12-14 at the El Macero Classic hosted by UC Davis.
