FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State softball team opened its four-game homestand with a 3-2 win over Pacific on Wednesday night at Margie Wright Diamond.
The Bulldogs (19-8, 1-2 MW) were held to seven hits in the contest. Sophomore Alyssa Ramirez led the team at the plate going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Two pitchers saw time in the circle for Fresno State. Freshman right-handed pitcher Ruby Anderson recorded her third start of the season. Anderson pitched a season-high five innings and dished a season-best four strikeouts. Sophomore Serayah Neiss finished the game for the Bulldogs, recording her eighth win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Pacific got on the scoreboard first with a two-out single up the middle in the second inning that advanced a runner to third. Anderson limited the damage by striking out the next batter.
Fresno State leveled the game in the third. After Taryn Irigoyen singled and stole second. Sophia Medellin drove her home with a double over the left fielder.
In the top of the fourth, Irigoyen put her arm on display, ending the Tigers' half inning, throwing out a runner at the plate with two outs.
The Bulldogs took their first lead of the night in the bottom of the sixth. With the bases loaded and two outs, Alyssa Ramirez stepped into the box and hit a first-pitch double through the middle of the infield to put the 'Dogs up 3-1.
Pacific put two on with one out in the top of the seventh. Neiss allowed one to score before recording the final two outs.

Fresno State moved to 8-2 when scoring at least three runs.
