SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team dropped a heartbreaker to the San Jose State Spartans in game two of the series on Saturday afternoon, 4-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans offense struck early with a two-run homer down the left-field line in the bottom of the first.
The Bulldogs held the Spartans to their 2-0 lead through six innings, until San Jose State scored two on an infield single and a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh.
Murf Gray started a rally in the top of the ninth with a two-out double followed by an RBI single from Ben Newton to bring him in. The Bulldogs loaded the bases with two outs, and Marco Pirruccello walked to bring in a run. Fresno State's two-out rally fell short and the Bulldogs were defeated 4-2 by the Spartans.

Reining Mountain West Pitcher of the Week Noah Beal went for 5 innings on the mound, adding seven strikeouts to his conference-leading total of 36.
The Bulldogs snap their five-game winning streak with the loss to the Spartans.
