'Dogs set for NCAA Zones

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State sophomore diver Grace Ally will compete at NCAA E Zones in Flagstaff for a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

Ally broke a program record in the platform at Mountain West Championships

Season best in the 1-meter with 275.95 points and season best in the 3-meter with 295. 50 both bests achieved at Mountain West Championships

In her freshman year ar Zone's Ally only competed in the platform event advancing to finals to finish in 14th place with 479.90 points

Ally has seen six event wins in dual meets this season, with three wins in the 1-meter, one in platform and two in the 3-meter springboard

BREAKING DOWN THE ZONES

To qualify for the NCAA Championships, divers must earn a top five females from each event in their respective zones, and earn an NCAA bid.

The top five female and top four male divers from each event at their respective zone diving championship will be eligible to compete at the NCAA Championships. Additional place finishers in each event at each zone will be eligible based on the number of student-athletes from that zone who finished in the top 16 in that event at the previous year's contested or completed NCAA Championships. All eligible divers must have achieved the zone qualifying score prior to the NCAA championships in all events they wish to participate in.

Once all of the zone diving championships have concluded, and not later than Sunday, March 17, the list of selected divers will be posted on ncaa.org.

A CHAMPIONSHIP TO REMEMBER

Ally was the first of Coach Patrick's divers to place in the top eight in each diving event at a Mountain West Championship. Earning a second-place podium finish in the platform with a program record of 321 points and an 6th place in the 3-meter and 8th place in the 1-meter springboard.

EVENT LINEUP

This is a prelim/finals meet, where the top-18 diver will advance to finals. Grace will be competing in all three dive events this week, starting with the 1-meter springboard on Monday, 3-meter on Tuesday and platform on the final day, Wednesday. Ally will see 22 other Mountain West divers this weekend.
