'Dogs dominant in the field at Aggie Open

DAVIS, Calif. – The Fresno State track and field teams picked up nine wins on the weekend at the Aggie Open, hosted by UC Davis. Senior Jordyn Bryant captured two wins on Saturday to lead the women to a sweep in the throws.

The Bulldog javelin throwers opened the day by going 1-2. Rhiannon Genilla placed first with a toss of 46.95m/154-0 while Chloe Wood was at 42.54m/139-6.

Led by Bryant, the Bulldogs went 1-2-3 in both the discus and shot put. Bryant captured the top spot in both events, landing marks of 53.89m/176-9 in the discus and a new personal best of 16.17m/53-0.75 in the shot put. With the toss, Bryant moved up to No. 4 all-time at Fresno State in the shot.

Emma Harper earned her second runner-up of the meet, finishing with a best mark of 48.46m/159-0 in the discus. She was followed by Jocelynn Budwig at 47.01m/154-2.

Amelia DiPaola took second in the shot put with a toss of 14.54m/47-8.5 while Morgan Johnson was third with a mark of 13.76m/45-1.75.

Fresno State opened the meet on Friday by going 1-2 in the women's hammer. DiPoala won the event with a mark of 60.03m/196-11. Harper finished second at 54.24m/177-11.

The Bulldogs were dominant in the jumps, winning all four in which they had entrants. The men went 3-for-3 with Jabari King winning the long jump (7.09m/23-3.25), Josh Dunu in the triple jump (13.96m/45-9.75) and Kamoni Reams in the high jump (1.95m/6-4.75). Lynee Sims won the women's long jump with a mark of 5.70/18-8.5.

On that track, the Bulldogs added two more wins. The men captured a win in the 4x100 relay with a time of 41.52. Ella Spaulding picked up a win for the women in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:06.32 while Janae Heffernan was just behind her at 1:06.86.

UP NEXT

The Bulldogs will be off next week before hosting the West Coast Relays March 22-23.
