'Dogs fall to Lobos on Senior Night

FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State women's basketball team dropped their final home contest to the New Mexico Lobos on Tuesday night at the Save Mart Center, 72-58.

Fresno State was led by senior Deajanae Harvey logging points and followed tightly by freshman Taija Sta. Maria scored 13 points and eight rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Sydney Dethman got the ball rolling for the Bulldogs opening on a solo 4-0 run. A Lobos three-pointer by Wilson didn't stop the Bulldogs from 5-2 run by Deajanae Harvey, Mia Jacobs, and Taija Sta. Maria. Harvey locked in another shot from downtown and a layup in the paint. The Lobos stayed within reach of the Bulldogs trailing by two after Keely Brown went to the line (1-2).

Fresno State extended their lead to as much as fifteen after opening on their largest run of the night, 14-0. All the 'Dogs joined in on the action starting off with a layup from Jacobs and capped off by another trip to the charity line by Brown (1-2). Kylee Fox delivers the Bulldogs their biggest lead of the night off a three-pointer. 'Dogs continue holding a double-digit lead into the half.

At the half Fresno State shot 56% from the field (9-of-16), 60% from the three (3-of-5) and 100% from the foul line (5-5).

Lobos then raised the effort coming out for the second half out-scoring the Bulldogs 24-11 in the third. Fresno State saw their 11 point lead going into the half drop down to one, after Lobos set off on a 11-2 run mid-way through the quarter. Bulldogs pushed to the final minute holding the lead, until New Mexico's Reus second chance layup gave the Lobos a two-point lead.

Fresno State endured another tough quarter getting outscored 20-8 as well as a two-point deficit slip by. Four minute drought broken by Sta. Maria's three-pointer. The final two minutes saw a Lobos 8-3 run. New Mexico was led by Nyah Wilson recording her own career-high 30 points.
