HOW IT HAPPENED

Natalie Elias hit a lead-off single to get the offense going. Elias has recorded a hit in 11 consecutive games. Keahiele Mattson brought her home with a single up the middle, giving the Bulldogs a quick 1-0 lead.

Neiss was dealing in the circle, striking out eight of the first nine batters that she faced.

Fresno State extended its lead in the top of the fourth inning. Kennedy Bunker hit a lead-off single and Juliana Wilson followed with a drawn walk, putting two runners on base. Martinez blasted a double through the right side to bring Bunker home. Weber sent down the next two batters. With two outs, Elias reached base on an error to keep the inning alive. The bases were loaded, and Medellin brought in another run with a single to left field. Mattson recorded an RBI-walk in the next at-bat. Lauren Almeida cleared the bases with a 3-RBI double to right-center. Fresno State took a 7-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth.

Weber State recorded its first hit, but Neiss and the defense would keep them off the scoreboard.
