'Dogs host No. 7 Oklahoma State for Senior Day

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State equestrian team wraps up its regular season competition against No. 7 Oklahoma State for Senior Day. With inclement weather set to hit the Central Valley on Friday and Saturday, the meet location will be decided early Saturday morning with the options of a split meet between the Fresno State Animal Science Pavillion and the Student Horse Center, or the entire meet inside the Animal Science Pavilion.

Following the meet, the Bulldogs will honor 10 seniors – Kaylie Banks, Madelyn Bloom, Bryanna Carney, Olivia Ferro, Catalina Gonzalez, Sophie Gratchner, Taylor Holstead, Elle Martin, Grace Mathias and Sarah Semrau.

Bulldog Bones

Fresno State looks to go for its third consecutive win, winning its last two meets at home.

Fresno State is 2-2 in the spring season, and have won three of its last five meets dating back to Nov. 17.

The Bulldogs have defeated two ranked opponents in then-No. 2 SMU (Nov. 17) and No. 9 UC Davis (Feb. 24).

Fresno State will compete in its final Big 12 matchup of the regular season against Oklahoma State on Saturday.

With the win over then-No. 2 SMU in the fall finale, Fresno State defeated a Top 2 opponent for the first time since the Spring of 2021.

It was the fifth time in program history that the Bulldogs defeated a No. 1 or No. 2 team.

Western 'Dogs

Fresno State is 37-53-1 in its western events this season.

Reining leads the two with 20 wins and horsemanship adds 17.

Horsemanship has six ties on the season.

The Bulldog horsemanship group earned its second sweep of the season against UC Davis last time out with a 4-0-1 outing.

Sophomore Abby Goddard earned her first career horsemanship MOP against the Aggies with a career-high 76.5

Goddard has a 4-3-1 record, tying for the team-high in wins in the event.

Joining Goddard with four wins are Alex Krebs, Kendra Lee and Emily Maul.

Goddard, Krebs and Lee have the Bulldogs' three horsemanship MOP honors this season.

In the reining, Shelby Robinette leads the team with a 6-4 record and freshman Alana Becker is chasing near with a 5-4 mark on the year.

Although narrowly losing her point to UC Davis, redshirt sophomore Brogan Hill rode for a career-high 77 in the reining last time out.

In her last three rides, Hill has not scored lower than a 71. On the year, she has not scored lower than a 69.5.

The Bulldogs have three reining MOPs as a team from Julianne Kelley, Shelby Robinette and Brogan Hill.

Jumping Seat 'Dogs

Fresno State is 38-57-6 in the jumping seat events this season.

Fresno State has 20 wins in the fences and 18 in the flat.

Olivia Ferro has been hot in the fences this season, totaling a 6-3-1 overall record with one MOP.

All six wins for Ferro came in a row from Oct. 7 - Feb. 2.

In the flat, senior Sara Tuck had continued her special career as a Bulldog, coming into the weekend with a 8-1-1 record on the year with four MOP honors.

Tuck has not lost a flat point since falling 87-85 against then-No. 1 TCU on Oct. 20.

This season, Tuck set the program record for most career flat MOPs with 10.

Taylor Holstead is 4-4 in both jumping seat events this season. She adds two flat MOPs for the second-most on the team behind Tuck.

Holstead is undefeated in her flat rides this spring, not losing a flat point since November 2 against Baylor.

Freshman Sage Lindvall has entered the chat. The true freshman has rode in four rides so far in her career, totaling a 3-0 record in the fences and earning one tie in the flat.

Scouting Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State is 4-6 overall, and 3-2 in its Big 12 meets.

The Cowgirls started the spring half of the season 2-1, highlighted by an upset over No. 3 SMU in Stillwater.

Of its four wins, two have been against ranked opponents this season.

Riley Hogan, Bella D'Onofrio and Hannah Dodd have either set or tied an OSU record score in the first three meets of the spring.

Head coach Larry Sanchez is in his 25th year at the helm of the Cowgirl equestrian program.

Last time these teams faced off in Fresno, the Bulldogs pulled off a 10-9 upset over the then-fifth ranked Cowgirls (Mar. 4, 2023). The Bulldogs used seven points in the final two events to defeat the Cowgirls last year on Senior Day.
