'Dogs tackle Titans in game one

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team shut out the Fullerton Titans in the series opener on Friday night at Goodwin Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Orange County native Grady Morgan got the 'Dogs on the board in the second inning with a lead-off solo shot to center field. Fresno State added another run in the same inning from a Ben Newton RBI double.

Murf Gray doubled in the third inning to bring in a run, quickly followed by an RBI triple from Morgan and RBI single from Rocco Peppi to make it a 5-0 game.

Eddie Saldivar hit a triple in the fourth inning that sent his former San Joaquin Memorial teammate Tyler Davis across the bag and crossed the plate himself after a Bulldog ground out.

The Bulldogs scored one final run in the top of the ninth as Rocco Peppi singled to left field to score Gray.

NOTES

Starting pitcher Jake Dixon earned his second win of the year, going seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts.

Senior Grady Morgan was a double away from the cycle before being intentionally walked in his final at bat.

The last time Fresno State shut out the Titans was on March 11, 2010, at the Aztec Invitational in San Diego, Calif.

UP NEXT

The Bulldogs will be back at Goodwin Field on Saturday evening at 5 p.m. PT for game two of the weekend series.
