Hanagan breaks program record on second day of MW Championships

HOUSTON- Another strong day for the Fresno State swim and dive team on the second day of Mountain West Championships finishing the day in 5th place with 313.50 points.

Junior Sera Hanagan breaks a program record in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:01.16, breaking the record by 0.02 and previously held by Esme Gullick (2:01.18) in 2016-17.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Grace Ally had another strong day off the spring board in the preliminaries session where she achieved her NCAA A standard in the 3-meter, 292 points. Ally moves on to another championship A final. In final Ally held a strong top three position before the final two dives, then dropping three places to finish in sixth with 295 points.

The 200 IM was the event of the day for the Bulldogs. In prelims Jenna Pulkkinen and Korrie Tengan took 2-3 in heat 4. Fresno State saw their highest number of qualifiers in the individual medley with five going to finals. Race of the night came from Sera Hanagan smashing the program record in the event with a time of 2:01.16 in the bonus C final. Hanagan held the lead going into the last 50 yards and took it all the way home.

NOTES

Sophomore diver Grace Ally's 295.50 points in the 3-meter springboard earns another NCAA A standard cut (280 points)

Ally is the lone Bulldog to qualify into an A final

Fresno State moves up three spots to take 5th place after earning 197 points

Bulldogs saw their highest number of qualifiers in the 200 IM with five (Hanagan, Kalmar, Pulkkinen, Arrendondo, Ueda)

UP NEXT: The action continues tomorrow on the Mountain West network at 10:30 a.m. CT/ 8:30 a.m. PT with the 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 freestyle, 100 breast, 100 back.
