The Bulldogs defeated a ranked Titan team in the Tony Gwynn Legacy tournament held in San Diego, Calif.
Fresno State would go 40-16-1 on the season with its first appearance in an NCAA regional since 2012.
TAKING ON THE TITANS
Cal State Fullerton has had a solid start to the '24 season, going 2-1 over Stanford.
The Titans outscored the Cardinal 20-10 on the weekend, beating them 15-6 in game two.
The Titans were selected to finish sixth in the Big West Preseason Coaches' Poll with 59 points whereas UC Santa Barbara is leading the pack, picked to finish at the top with 99 points and two first-place votes.
Colby Wallace leads the Titan offense with a .462 average and a pair of home runs on the season.
The Titan Ace Christian Rodriguez is slated to start in Friday's game after recording six scoreless innings in his first start of the season against Stanford.
BETTER LATE THAN NEVER
The Bulldogs keep the Red Wave on the edge of their seats with 17 of their 24 runs scored in the sixth inning or later.
The Diamond 'Dogs have scored a total of 13 runs in eighth innings over opponents so far in 2024.
TOMMY HIM-FE
Fresno State's Tommy Hopfe is back in full force for the 2024 season with a home run, a team-leading average of .462, two doubles and a save on the year through four games.
Hopfe has started in three different positions so far: Designated hitter, first base, and left field.
MOUNTAIN WEST PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Sophomore pitcher Jack Anker has been named Mountain West Pitcher of the Week after his lights-out performance against Milwaukee, the conference announced on Monday morning.
Jack Anker set the tone of the shutout victory with a three-pitch strikeout to start the game. He went six scoreless innings with five strikeouts, just one shy of his career-best, to claim his first win of the season.
He also recorded a putout as he put the wheels on to beat a batter to first.
This is Anker's first conference honor and his second start on the Bulldog's squad to start his sophomore campaign.
