FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State women's basketball earns their third straight win after defeating Nevada at the Save Mart Center on Wednesday night, 57-45.
Mia Jacobs earns her fifth double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Jacobs leads the Bulldogs in both scoring and rebounding against the Wolf Pack.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nevada got the first points of the game before Keely Brown made it to the basket with a shot from downtown. Game was all tied up halfway through the first, 9-9. Bulldogs took an eight point lead to close after a 7-0 run from the field by Mia Jacobs, Deajanae Harvey and closed out by a three from Maria Konstantinidou.
Fresno State started the next ten with their largest run of the night, 12-0. Jacobs scored six points and Harvey scored four in the run and Konstantindou joins in with a second chance layup. 'Dogs go into the half holding a 14 point lead over the Wolf Pack, with the trio of Jacobs, Harvey and Konstantindou claiming the only points in the quarter.
Tamia Stricklin's three-point jumper gave the Bulldogs their largest lead of the night, up 19 points. Nevada scored their only point from the field in the first five minutes by Borden. Wolf Pack's next baskets came from two trips to charity line going 4-of-4. Despite scoring seven points, Bulldogs managed to get their biggest lead of the night and hold Nevada scoreless from the field for almost the entire quarter.
A comeback effort would fall short for the Wolf Pack in the final ten even as they outscored the Bulldogs 18-15. Taija Sta. Maria led the Bulldogs in the final ten scoring six points. Backed by the charity line from both sides of the court, Fresno State saw seven trips to the foul line (11-of-14) to Nevada's two trips (3-of-4). In another strong finisher, Bulldogs would not drop the lead to less then 12 points.
