'Dogs win big over Spartans on Saturday

FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State women's basketball earns another conference win against the San Jose Spartans at the Save Mart Center on Saturday afternoon, 74-59.

Bulldogs' were led by Senior Deajanae Harvey scoring a career-high 21 points off the bench and grabbing four three-pointers and Freshman Kylee Fox with 15 points and five three-pointers.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First ten was a toss up between the Bulldogs and the Spartans, seeing the lead change four times. Taija Sta. Maria started the scoring off strong for the Bulldogs recording six points in the first quarter.

It was a big second period for the Bulldogs, outscoring the Spartans, 25-to-9. Fresno's largest run of the night,10-0 was sparked by Malaya LeSueur's jumper in the paint. Back-to-back threes by Kylee Fox and Sta. Maria, LeSueur came back to close it out with a fast break jumper. Tamia Stricklin ceases the first half for the Bulldogs with the largest lead of the night,18 points, off a three-pointer.

Fresno State held the lead into the half holding 58% from the field, 75% from the three and 50% from the foul line.

Fresno State would hold no less than a ten point lead for the reminder of play. Harvey makes her first mark at double-figures with a jumper outside the paint. Surging forth, Harvey claimed the Bulldogs next three baskets. Playmaker of the night, Harvey catches the ball off a block and banks a three-pointer jumper from the logo with two seconds left on the shot clock.

Last Bulldog points came from a 6-0 run with a set of threes from Fox and Harvey. Fox sank in two of the five three-pointers for the Bulldogs. Harvey scored her 21st point off a three-pointer from an opponent turnover.

Spartans were led by Sabrina Ma (18) and Semaj Smith (13).
