LOGAN, UT.- Head coach Jaime White earns her 100th conference win against Utah State in Logan, 70-50. Coach White becomes the first active women's head coach in the Mountain West with 100 or more wins and the third active coach.
Sophomore Mia Jacobs earns her fourth double-double of her career as a Bulldog this season with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Jacobs shot 30% from the three (3-of-10), 29% from the field and 100% from the foul line (2-of-2).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Aggies opened with their only lead of the afternoon just minutes in, 6-5. A three-pointer from Mia Jacobs broke their lead and from then on, Bulldogs controlled the court. Fresno State held Utah State scoreless for two minutes getting a 10-0 run in with layups from Tamia Stricklin and Sydney Dethamn capped by a three-pointer from Kylee Fox. Bulldogs' earned their first double-digit lead with Fox's shot from the arc and closed on a 13-2 run.
The next ten was played in similar fashion to the first as the Bulldogs held the Aggies to less than ten points. A quick 7-0 spurt nears the Bulldogs to their first 20 point lead of the game seventeen minutes in. Strong run to start gives the Bulldogs enough space to miss the net for the next few minutes until Tamia Stricklin pushes in a second chance layup. Stricklin sparks another short 6-0 run to close the half, 37-19.
Fresno State shot 44% from the field (15-of-34) and 35% from the three (6-of-17) in the first half.
Utah State attempted to push for a comeback, managing to outscore Fresno State 19-18, in the third. Dethmen's jumper in the paint got her in double-figures to start the Bulldogs in the second half. Jacobs followed a minute later sinking in a three, scoring her 16th game in double-figures. With a hand from Taija Sta. Maria the Bulldogs put up their biggest lead of the night with 28 points, 55-27. Aggies' did their best to hold on tight, closing on an 11-0 scoring run and holding the Bulldogs scoreless for the last three and a half minutes.
A dominant fourth quarter secured the 'Dogs with a 20 point win. Keely Brown broke another Bulldog scoring drought of six minutes, with a fast break layup in the paint. Jacobs clinched her fourth double-double this season off a second chance layup. Winding down to the final two minutes of the game, Utah State found the basket for their first points of the quarter and closed out on a 12-5 run.
