Bulldogs fall to top-ranked TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Fresno State equestrian team fell 12-7 to No. 1 TCU, opening the spring season with a competitive road meet. The Bulldogs have a quick turnaround before taking on No. 3 SMU in Dallas tomorrow.

Fresno State moves to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in Big 12 competition this season.

How it Happened

Fresno State took the fences with a 3-2 defeat over the Horned Frogs. The Bulldogs scored points in rides by Elle Martin, Bridey Jones and Olivia Ferro. Martin opened up scoring with a 87-83 ride. Jones won her point with a 78 to TCU's 68. Ferro rounded out scoring with a 78-76 edging.

TCU took the reining 3-2. Fresno State's points were earned by Ashley Jackson with a 70.5 to her opponent's 68, and Shelby Robinette with a 71.5-71 edging in the final ride of the event.

Fresno State managed a 5-5 tie at the intermission.

The Bulldogs stayed in the competition in the flat, falling 3-2. Martin and Sara Tuck won their points for the Bulldogs. Martin rode for a 79 to her opponent's 69 for the first point for the 'Dogs. Tuck continued her winning streak with a 85-69 defeat over Ashleigh Scully.

TCU swept in the horsemanship to secure its victory. Only winning four points in the event, Abby Goddard tied in her ride with a 74.

Notable

Fresno State scored its most points in a true road meet at TCU since 2020.

Bridey Jones rode in her first collegiate ride, winning her point in the fences.

Olivia Ferro won her sixth-straight fences point, dating back to Oct. 7, 2023.

Ashley Jackson won her first reining point of the season.

Shelby Robinette won her fourth-straight win.

Robinette had her highest road score of the season.

Sara Tuck won her fourth-straight flat point.

Elle Martin went 2-0 in her jumping seat rides on Friday, the first time this season that she swept in her rides.

Martin picked up her first flat point of the season.
