LOS ANGELES - Fresno State senior attacker Abbey Simshauser has been named the Week 1 Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Thursday morning.
In her Bulldog debut, Simshauser helped Fresno State defeat four ranked opponents. She totaled eight goals, two assists, six drawn exclusions, five steals and four field blocks. She had two hat tricks on the weekend against No. 13 Michigan and No. 1 Stanford. Her biggest game of the weekend came against the Cardinal with three goals, one assist, five drawn exclusions, two steals and two field blocks.
A native of Sydney, Australia, Simshauser transferred to Fresno State from Wagner College where she spent three seasons (2020-23). While at Wagner, Simshauser had an early decorated career, earning back-to-back MAAC Offensive Player of the Year awards in 2022 and 2023. She earned five total player of the week honors by the MAAC office in her career at Wagner College, three rookie of the weeks and two offensive player of the week honors.
Simshauser and the Bulldogs are back in the pool for the Hawai'i Invitational this weekend, facing Azusa Pacific on Friday and No. 9 Princeton and No. 4 Hawaii on Saturday.
