FRESNO, Calif. - Phil Steele, recognized nationally as one of the top college football gurus, released his All-Mountain West teams for the 2023 season that saw 12 Bulldogs earning recognition.
Seniors Mose Vavao (OL) and Carlton Johnson (CB) led the way as first team selections by Steele. Senior captain and starting linebacker Levelle Bailey earned second team honors along with Jaelen Gill and Nick D'Ambra. Gill was selected as a kickoff returner and D'Ambra a long snapper.
The 'Dogs saw their most picks on the third team with three on offense, one on defense and one on special teams. Malik Sherrod (RB), Erik Brooks (WR) and Tre Watson (TE) were the offensive picks. Devo Bridges (DE) and Dylan Lynch (K) rounded out the third team selections for defense and special teams.
Jalen Moss (WR) and Morice Norris Jr. (NKL) were each fourth team selections.
Of Fresno State's 12 selections from 2023, five return in 2024. Fresno State graduated six, and lost just one to the portal.
