'Dogs take it down to the wire in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif.- Fresno State women's basketball earns their first true road win of the season in San Jose at the Provident Credit Union Event Center on Wednesday night closing out the game on a 13-1 run, 70-67.

Fresno State would have four Bulldogs record double-digits, Mia Jacobs, Kylee Fox, Bineta Diatta and Deajanae Harvey.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Mia Jacobs gets the ball rolling with back-to-back threes for the Bulldogs in the first minute of play at the Provident Credit Union Event Center. San Jose State would then open on a 6-0 run tying up the game with four minutes left in the opening quarter. Deajanae Harvey would tie the game up with another shot from downtown, 12-12. 'Dogs would run dry, not scoring another field goal for the last three minutes, giving the Spartans time to build a four point lead.

Another round of threes for the 'Dogs in the second quarter, staring off with Jacobs' to tie up the game, 18-18. Jacobs third three-pointer earns her double-digit points (10 points). Jacobs' follows the three with a layup to give the Bulldogs a two-point lead. Fresno State would see another stretch of time without seeing the net. Harvey clocks the three with two minutes to-go.

Fresno State would see their second largest deficit of the game mid-way through the third, down by eight with over five minutes left to play. No 'Dogs down, Fresno State would get an 8-0 scoring run to bring the Spartans lead to one, off of Harvey's third 3-pointer of the night. From deep Franka Wittenberg rolls in another three for the Bulldogs, to see another tie, 43-43.

Fresno State would have to fight hard in the last ten to break the Spartans seven point lead. San Jose would open on a 5-0 run and see a 9+ point lead four times in the fourth, courtesy of LoVett with two three-pointers and a layup. A fast break layup off a steal by Taija Sta. Maria would spark a 13-1 run for the 'Dogs. Kylee Fox would be close behind to sink the Bulldogs 11th three-pointer of the night.

Breaking a six point lead, Bulldogs would find themselves down by one after a layup by Bineta Diatta with thirty seconds left to play. 'Dogs would make it to the foul line twice going 4-of-4 to take a three point lead. A steal by Harvey in final seconds would seal the deal for the Bulldogs.

Freshman Jaydah LoVett would be the Spartans player of the night putting up 26 points and three 3-pointers in the last quarter.
