Eight named to CSC Academic All-District® team

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State football team saw eight student-athletes earn recognitions by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) to the 2023 Academic All-District® Division I football team this week.

CSC recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

The Bulldogs represented on the team include Dean Clark (DB), Nick D'Ambra (LS), Johnny Hudson Jr. (DL), Jacob Isaia (OL), Mikey Keene (QB), Carson King (P), Gavriel Lightfoot (DL) and Tyler Mello (LB).

Each student-athlete selected is at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and carries a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50. Student-athletes selected must also be a consistent contributor on the field, having competed in 90 percent of the institution's games/contests played OR started in at least 66 percent of the games.

Keene, who excelled on the field this season by earning national and conference recognitions, was selected as a CSC Academic All-America® finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Jan. 23, 2024.
