SPOKANE, Wash. – The Fresno State women's track and field team opened its indoor season on Saturday, leaving The Podium with two event wins and a total of 11 of Top 5 finishes. Cierra Jackson won the shot put while the Bulldogs' 4x400 relay team picked up the team's final win.
Jackson landed a best mark of 14.94m/49-0.25, edging out teammate Amelia DiPaola (14.66m/48-1.25) in the shot put. Jackson led a trio of 'Dogs in the weight throw as the group finished 2-3-4. The junior's best throw registered17.74m/58-2.50. DiPaola was third at 17.09m/56-1 and Emma Harper was fourth with a personal best of 16.90m/55-5.5.
On the track, the Bulldogs' 4x4 relay team of Iyana Ross, Chloe Sharp, Miana Giovannini and Ceonna Pipion won the event by clocking a time of 3:47.10. Pipion and Sharp also went 2-3 in the 400 meters with Pipion crossing the line in 55.12 and Sharp just behind her at 55.38.
The high jump saw a new Bulldog move to No. 4 on the program's all-time list. In her first appearance, freshman Liz Tarczy cleared a height of 1.71m/5-7.25
5 to finish second in the event. Kaitlynn Perez was fifth at 1.66m/5-5.25.
Rachela Pace earned third in the long jump, finishing with a top mark of 5.77m/18-11.25.

Fresno State will be off until Jan. 12 when the team travels back to Spokane for the Spokane Sports Showcase.
