'Dogs fall to Portland State at Save Mart Center

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's basketball team falls to Portland State on Wednesday night at the Save Mart Center, 72-61.

Freshman Kylee Fox would lead the pack tonight; scoring a career-high 19 points, career-high five 3-pointers, four steals and two assists. Fox would go 3-of-3 from the three in the first half, closing out the game going 5-of-8 (62%.)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Fresno State would start play on a high note, with freshman Kylee Fox opening the scoring for the 'Dogs with a 3-pointer. Bulldogs' would then go on an 8-0 run, capped off by Fox's second three-pointer of the night. Vikings would begin to level the 'Dogs lead with a three-pointer followed by four points off two Fresno State turnovers. Portland State would find success behind the arc closing out the first quarter, shooting four 3-pointers in the last three and a half minutes.

Vikings defense would prove to be a tough match in the second quarter holding the 'Dogs to seven points. Not done yet, Fox would secure her third 3-pointer of the night off a steal by Taija Sta. Maria.

Fresno State would trail by double-digits going into the half.

Shooting 48% (13-27) from the field, Bulldogs would try to work up some offensive movement in the second half of play. Fox would once again open the quarter with a three-pointer, going 4-of-4 through 21 minutes of game play.

Making a push for another comeback win, Bulldogs' would break a 16 point deficit with a 24 point resurgence in the fourth quarter. Fresno State would score nine points off of four forced Portland State turnovers. 'Dogs would see more action behind the arc with back-to-back three-pointers from Fox (5) and Mia Jacobs. Despite closing on a 6-0 run, the 'Dogs would trail by double-digits.

The Vikings top scorers of the night were Esmeralda Morales (21) and Rhema Ogele (19). Morales would go 4-of-8 from the three and Ogele would record a double-double 19 points and 10 rebounds. Portland State would record their first back-to-back win of the season.

Fresno State would shoot 46% (24-52) from the field, 35% (6-of-7) from the three and 70% (7-10) from the foul line.
