'Dogs earn another 70 point win at Save Mart Center

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's basketball finds themselves back in the win column after a 74-64, win over Long Beach State on Tuesday night at the Save Mart Center.

Mia Jacobs earns her first double-double and the second for the Bulldogs this season, with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Fresno State started the game on a six point scoring run. Shooting 50% from the field, Fresno State found its largest lead of the night with 12 points, 27-15. Seven of those coming from starting freshman Taija Sta. Maria.

Beach would see their best period of the night, outscoring the 'Dogs by double-digits, evident by four 3-pointers from Givens. Fresno State would struggle to find offensive momentum, shooting 30% from the field. Long Beach would see a six point scoring run to close out the period.

Fresno State still held strong on the home front with a seven point lead to start the second half, 43-36.

Fresno State would force Long Beach State to 11 turnovers and score 13 points off those turnovers in the second half. Freshman Kylee Fox scored a fast break three-pointer off of a Long Beach turnover, stolen by Keely Brown. The junior Bineta Diatta would make a fast break into the paint for a layup off of a steal by Sta. Maria in the fourth period.

Jacobs would put strong offensive pressure on Long Beach State, recording 12 points in the second half. Jacobs would go 5-6 from the foul line, 1-of-2 from the three and 3-6 from the field with 18 minutes of play.

Fresno State would control the lead throughout the entirety of the game, despite being out scored by Long Beach in the second and third period. Bulldogs' would hold a strong lead for 39:00 minutes of regulation play against Long Beach.

Long Beach State's highest scorers of the night were, Cheyanne Givens (17) and Savannah Tucker (14). Shooting in the 43% range from the field, 42% from the three and 44% from the free throw line.

NOTES

Fresno State has scored over 70 points for the fourth time this season while keeping their opponent to 65 points or less.
