'Dogs ride the Waves at Save Mart Center Wednesday Night

FRESNO, Calif- Fresno State women's basketball stuns in another double-header on Wednesday night at the Save Mart Center.

Fresno State women's basketball closes the three home game stretch with a win over Pepperdine, 74-55.

Sophomore Mia Jacobs leads the 'Dogs in scoring with 27 points in a single game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

With a back-and-forth lead to start the first period, Fresno State opened the game neck-n-neck with Pepperdine.

Shooting from just under 40% from the field, Fresno State struggled to find their footing in the second period. Midway through, the 'Dogs found themselves stagnant with over three minutes of play and neither team scoring. Bulldogs' managed to force five turnovers, two of which were from a steal, in those three minutes.

'Dogs took a short lead going into the half, 30-27.

Fresno State cashed in on points from turnovers in the third period. Forcing the Waves to nine turnovers and scoring 15 points off turnovers, one of which was a 3-pointer from Jacobs. 'Dogs scored a period high of 26 points to extend the lead to 19 points with ten minutes of play left.

The final period of play was another even call between the 'Dogs and the Waves. Both teams scored 18 points and 10 rebounds. A 19 point score margin secured Fresno State the win against Pepperdine.

The Waves leading scorer was SEC transfer Myra Gordon with 14 points followed by starting returner Jane Nwaba with 12 points. Pepperdine held even with Fresno State shooting in the 40% range from the field throughout the game. Only out shooting the 'Dogs in the second period by 34%.

NOTES:

This is the third game this season where the 'Dogs have not scored below 70 points
