COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- For the first time in her career Aliz Kalmar has been selected as the Mountain West Swimmer of the Week.
Kalmar is ranked No.1 in the Mountain West's Top Performance list for both the 100 breaststroke and the 200 breaststroke. Kalmar achieved a lifetime best in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.33 in last weeks tri-meet against Fresno Pacific and University of Pacific.
Kalmar's 200 breaststroke time of 2:16.45, out swam the previous No.1 rank from UNLV by one hundredth of a second. Going back-to-back, Kalmar has claimed wins in both breaststroke events in the last two meets. Kalmar finished in 1st place for three out of the four events swam, the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and 200 medley relay. With 12 first place finishes, three of coming from Kalmar, Fresno State defeated Fresno Pacific (214-41) and the University of Pacific (185-77).
Kalmar's MW Swimmer of the week selection is the first one for the Bulldogs this season and her first selection as a Bulldog.
