QUICK LOOK

Fresno State came up victorious in the battle with Boise State for the Milk Can last weekend, but it gets another chance at hardware this week. Introduced in 2013, Fresno State and San Jose State added to its long running rivalry the "Valley Trophy".

Following Saturday's win, Fresno State entered the Coaches Poll Top 25 at the No. 25 spot.

Fresno State does not leave the state of California for the remainder of the 2023 regular season games. With one home game, and road tests at San Jose State and San Diego State, the Bulldogs do not travel more than 350 miles in games in November.

With its win at Utah State (Oct. 13), Fresno State was the first team in the Mountain West to become bowl eligible.

The Bulldogs' game-opening drives have gone one of two ways this season – touchdown or 3-and-out.

Any time Fresno State gains one turnover, it gains at least one more. The Bulldogs have had six games with two or more turnovers this season, and three games with zero.

With two interceptions on Saturday, Fresno State now has 14 interceptions on the season to lead the MW and rank third in the FBS.

Fresno State has been steady in its third down conversion attempts. The Bulldogs are converting on just over 50 percent of their third down chances, ranking second in the MW behind UNLV and eighth in the FBS.

RB Malik Sherrod was named the Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week after returning a Boise State kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown to record Fresno State's first kickoff return for a TD since 2008.

Sherrod totaled 255 all-purpose yards against Boise State, the 10th most by a player in a game in program history.

Fresno State had 647 kickoffs without a return for a touchdown until last Saturday. Sherrod had the 11th kickoff return for a touchdown in Fresno State program history.

QB Mikey Keene has connected with nine different receivers for touchdowns this season. All but two players with a catch have recorded at least one receiving touchdown.

K Dylan Lynch is riding a streak of nine games in a row with a made field goal, and an additional streak of seven consecutive made field goals.

ABOUT THE MATCHUP

In the longest-lasting series in Fresno State football history, the Bulldogs have a 44-38-3 all-time advantage over the Spartans.

Introduced in 2013, Fresno State and San Jose State added to its long running rivalry the "Valley Trophy" to symbolize the Central Valley and the Silicon Valley where each of the schools reside.

Fresno State looks for its third-straight win against San Jose State.

With a win, Fresno State would earn its first win in San Jose under head coach Jeff Tedford since Oct. 7, 2017.

The Bulldogs are hitting the road for the first time since Oct. 13 when they traveled to Utah State.

Fresno State does not leave the state of California for the remainder of the regular season.
