WACO, Texas - The Fresno State equestrian team fell by raw score at No. 8 Baylor on Thursday afternoon. The teams tied at nine, and Baylor came away with a 1613.5-1609.5 win.
The Bulldogs won the Most Outstanding Performer honors in the flat and the horsemanship. Senior Sara Tuck won her second flat MOP of the season after winning her point 84-80. Senior Alex Krebs won her first MOP of the season and second of her career with a 78-77 horsemanship win. The 78 is the highest horsemanship score by any Bulldog on the season.
How it happened
Baylor came away with a 4-1 win in the fences. Fresno State's point came by a 81-79 win from Olivia Ferro, her third-straight fences win on the year.
The Bulldogs gained some momentum, but still fell 3-2 in the flat. Autumn Bradbury won her first career point with a 85-83 showing. Her score on Thursday was a career-high. Tuck was back to her winning ways with a 84-80 ride against her opponent.
Meanwhile, the Bulldog horsemanship crew handled business with a 3-0-2 outing in the event. Fresno State won the horsemanship for the first time this season behind points from Krebs, Abby Goddard and Kendra Lee. The ties came in rides by Ella Storch and Emily Maul.
After three events, Baylor was holding on to a 7-6 lead going into the reining. The Bears took the first point of the reign by half a point, but Shelby Robinette secured the next with a 69.5-67 ride. Alana Becker won her third-straight reining point with a 67.5-65.5 win. Senior Hannah Hieber was defeated 71.5-70 and the final ride went the way of the Bulldogs with a 71.5-70.5 defeat by Brogan Hill.
