We continue our Alumni spotlight series with one of head coach Jamie White's first players during her tenure at Fresno State, Alex Sheedy (2011-2015).

Sheedy played in 123 games during her Bulldog career, making 33 starts in her final season. The Australian is a part of the 1,000 point club with 1,387 points, scoring 525 points in her final season at Fresno State. Sheedy received multiple accolades and honors during her career as a Bulldog. All-MW Third Team, All-MW Tournament, Academic All-MW (2012-13), Academic All-MW (2013-14), All-MW, Co-Player of the Year, Year-by-Year Scoring Average Leader (2014-15), All-MW Tournament (2015), All-Time Letter Winner, No.10 Double-Double Career Leader (2012-15),

Q: What is your current profession, and where do you work?

Sheedy: I'm currently a stay-at-home-mum (3 and 1.5year old boys), and slowly getting into some online work/freelance writing.

Q: What do you enjoy the most about your current profession?

Sheedy: That I spend so much time with my boys! But also, I am an introvert, so it's nice being home, honestly.

Q: How did your time at Fresno State prepare you for your career and life after college

Sheedy: Well, I can't say about career right now, but for life? It definitely gave me the mental fortitude and confidence to go out and try new things, see new places, to step out of my comfort zone. Not that I always can or do, but I have that inner strength built into me, and it's such a relief to know it's there when I need to draw on it.

Q: What is your favorite memory as a student-athlete?

Sheedy: I have too many! But all of them involve my team in some way, and that matters the most to me, that my teammates are in all my best memories.

Q: What do you miss the most about your time at Fresno State and being a student-athlete?

Sheedy: I miss living that athlete's life, and all the resources we had available. It's not like that out of college. I also miss the community; there's nothing like it! The free sports medicine, strength & conditioning, and rehab services are nice too.

Q: Looking back at your career, what is one word you'd use to describe it?

Sheedy: Adequate. If I had one more year, I'd have blown the roof off my own expectations! I feel like I was really coming into my own, reaching a really good place as a player . I broke my foot my junior year and was out for 5 weeks, and that really hurt my career satisfaction looking back. I could have achieved more, personally and statistically. So it was just adequate, looking back now. But five years ago I'd have said amazing, incredible! It's just perspective talking now. Maybe others would disagree, but that's what I'm thinking these days.

Q: What is the biggest piece of advice you would give to current student athletes?

Sheedy: It's cliche, but the more you put in, the more you get out. You have to take advantage of all the great things available to you. Alcohol intake really impacts you more than you realize, so limit that too. You don't need to party much; those nights aren't what you'll remember most. It's honestly not worth it. Do your homework as soon as you get it - that will help a lot too! If you just get it done, there'll be less stress, and more focus on basketball.

Q: If you could give a message to the Fresno State family, what would it be?

Sheedy: Hey Red Wave/Hoops Club/WBB Family - I miss you! I treasure and appreciate the days I spent at Fresno State, and am so grateful to all the people in and around the program that were always supportive, and doing whatever they could to help us get where we wanted to be. Thank you for giving me memories I'll cherish forever - and I can't wait for the day that I can come back and bring my own family to show them somewhere so important in my life.
