FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State equestrian team fell 15-5 to the top-ranked TCU on Friday afternoon at the Student Horse Center.
Fresno State swept the jumping seat Most Outstanding Performer honors as Olivia Ferro earned her third career MOP in the fences and Taylor Holstead picked up her second career flat honor.
The Bulldogs saw career-high rides from Ferro (fences), Autumn Bradbury (flat), Holstead (fences), Kendra Lee (horsemanship), Elle Martin (flat), Jillian Spencer (flat), Molly Stewart (fences), and Ella Storch (horsemanship).
How It Happened
No. 1 TCU got out to an early lead with a 5-0 sweep in horsemanship. Lee and Storch scored career-highs in the event, narrowly defeated by their opponents. Storch scored a 77 and Lee recorded a 77.5 to lead the 'Dogs in scoring.
Fresno State picked up its first points in the fences, keeping it close with TCU. Holstead opened up with a career-high 87 in the fences, outscoring her opponent by four, 87-83. Ferro had the MOP ride with a career-high 90 to her opponent's 77. It was her highest fences score since Oct. 2021.
At the half, No. 1 TCU had a 8-2 lead.
The Bulldogs were defeated 4-1 in the reining. The lone Bulldog point came by freshman Alana Becker with a 70-0 ride in the first home meet of her career. Julianne Kelley had the highest score by a Bulldog on the day with a 71.5, but was defeated by her opponent's 73.
The flat saw another 3-2 final score in favor of the Horned Frogs. The first point came by a career-high 93 from Spencer. Her previous career-high was 80. Holstead rode to the MOP win with an 82-81 showing. Martin scored a career-high 90, but was edged by her opponent's 91.
