FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State volleyball team extended its win streak with a 3-0 victory over the Wyoming Cowgirls on Saturday afternoon at the Save Mart Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State and Wyoming played a close first set with six lead changes on the board and nine tie scores. Wyoming took a 13-9 lead over the Bulldogs, leading to a timeout called by Fresno State. The Dogs followed with a 6-0 run to take a 15-13 lead, followed by three kills from the Bulldogs to finalize the set at 25-23.
The Bulldogs brought the heat in the second set, outkilling the Cowgirls 15-10 led by Addison Haluska with four. Fresno State pulled ahead with a 5-4 lead due to an attack error from Wyoming and held on to the lead consistently before winning the set 25-10, the Bulldogs' largest lead of the match.
The Cowgirls put up a fight in the third set as they caught up to the Bulldogs at 12. Fresno State followed with a six-point run with Sydney Gazzaniga at the service line to put the Dogs ahead. Jenna Legault snagged the match point with her seventh kill of the game to lock in the Bulldogs' second consecutive sweep at home with a third set score of 25-19 and overall score of 3-0.
NOTES
Fresno State is now on a four-match winning streak, its longest since 2019.
The Bulldogs swept at home in back-to-back matches, also for the first time since 2019.
Addison Haluska led the offense, scoring 13 points with 11 kills.
