QUICK LOOK

Fresno State saw its winning streak come to an end last Saturday following its 24-19 loss at Wyoming. The Bulldogs had won 14 games in-a-row, the second-longest winning streak in program history.

It had been almost a year to the day since Fresno State's last loss. The Bulldogs fell at Boise State on Oct. 8, 2022 and did not suffer another loss until Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023.

Fresno State dropped out of the AP and Coaches Polls this week, after climbing to No. 24 last week.

Fresno State looks ahead to its seventh-straight game of the 2023 season, with its bye week following Friday's contest at Utah State. At seven games, the Bulldogs have had their longest stretch of games to open a season since 2016 when they played 10-straight games before their bye week in November.

Four of the seven games before the 2023 bye week were on the road, and all out of the state of California – at Purdue, at Arizona State, at Wyoming, at Utah State. Coming out of the bye week, the Bulldogs do not leave their home state as they look toward three home games and road matches at San Jose State and San Diego State to round out the regular season.

With a win on Friday, Fresno State would become bowl eligible for its third consecutive season. It would be the first time since the 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons that Fresno State appeared in a bowl game in three-straight seasons.

Fresno State has an all-time record of 54-34 in its Mountain West games. As head coach, Tedford is 24-10 in MW games.

WR Jalen Moss is currently second on the team with 360 yards receiving on 33 catches. He also adds four receiving touchdowns on the year. The redshirt freshman leads the team with two 100-yard receiving performances this season, becoming the first Bulldog freshman or redshirt freshman since Adams in 2012 to have multiple 100-yard receiving games in a single season.

For the second time in his two-year career, sophomore kicker Dylan Lynch kicked an onside kick that was recovered by the Bulldogs. Prior to the 2022 season, Fresno State had not had a successful onside kick recovery since 2015.

ABOUT THE MATCHUP

The two teams first met in 1952.

In five meetings since Fresno State and Utah State began sharing conference affiliation in the Mountain West in 2013, Utah State has won three games while the 'Dogs have won two, but one was a big one, as the Bulldogs won the inaugural MW Championship game against the Aggies in 2013.

Fresno State leads the all-time series against Utah State, 18-13-1.

This week's game is Fresno State's only non-Saturday game of the 2023 season.

It is its first non-Saturday game since hosting UNLV on a Friday in 2022. Fresno State is on the road for a non-Saturday matchup for the first time since playing on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday) at San Jose State in 2021.

This Friday will be just the fourth game for the Bulldogs in Logan since 2010. Prior to the 2020 season, Fresno State had not won a contest in Logan since 2010.
