FRESNO, Calif. — The Fresno State women's golf team will travel north to compete in the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational hosted by Seattle University Oct. 2-3, at Tacoma Country Club.

TOURNEY TIME

The Seattle U women's golf program will host the ninth annual Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational from October 2-3. The event has taken place at Tacoma Country and Golf Club in Tacoma, Wash., since its inaugural tournament.

The two-day, 54-hole event begins with 36 holes on Monday beginning with a shotgun start set for 8 a.m. before playing one final 18-hole round on Tuesday.

THE FIELD

The tournament features 21 teams including CSU Bakersfield, CSU Fullerton, Eastern Washington, Fresno State Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Hawaii, Houston Christian, Idaho, Montana State, Nevada, North Dakota, Portland State, Santa Clara, Sacred Heart, South Dakota, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, Weber State and Wyoming.

THE COURSE

Tacoma Country Club is a par-72 course spanning 6,087 yards. Originally built in 1894 on the shores of American Lake, Tacoma Country Club has played host to numerous well-known events, including the U.S. Women's Amateur, the U.S. Senior Women's Amatuer, and the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship.

LAST TIME OUT

The Fresno State women's golf team wrapped up the Ptarmigan Ram Classic Sept. 25-26 with a fifth place finish after carding a 6-under 858.

Freshman Sophia Yi-Ju Chen led the Bulldogs for the second consecutive tournament, recording a season-low 3-round 5-under 211. Chen had a 1-over 73 on the day with three birdies to finish tied for 10th.

Senior Katelyn Lehigh was right behind Chen with a 4-under 212, after finishing the last 18 holes with a 1-under 71. Lehigh capped off the tournament with four birdies.

HOT START

At the first tournament of the season, Fresno State recorded a new program low two-round total of 15-under par 561 at the Timpanogos Collegiate Classic in Provo.

The Bulldogs tied the program record for the lowest score in a 54-hole tournament with a 12-under par 852.

Sophomore Katelyn Lehigh captured the 19th medalist honor in program history, winning the Timpangos Collegiate Invitational. Lehigh set a new program record for the lowest three-round total, carding an overall score of 15-under par 201.

Transfer Jinyu Wu recorded a seventh-place finish in her first tournament as a Bulldog, scoring a 73 on day three for a 7-under 209 total. Wu's score tied the program's fifth-lowest three-round total.

NEW KIDS ON THE COURSE

Fresno State only returned two players from last season, adding six newcomers.

The Bulldogs added three transfers to the roster in Jiye Ham (Washington State), Jinyu Wu (Washington State) and Meredith McDougal (Westmont College). Along with three freshmen in Amelia Garibaldi, Sophia Yi-Ju Chen and Vunnisa Vu.
