'Dogs wrap up non-conference with 3-2 victory

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Fresno State volleyball team wrapped up the final day of the Central Cal Classic with a 3-2 win over the CSU Bakersfield on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs will now enter conference play this week with a 6-5 overall record.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bulldogs came into the first set hot and never allowed the Roadrunners to take a lead. Fresno State went on a 12-2 run to claim a 19-9 lead, and eventually won the set 25-13 with its largest advantage of the season. The Roadrunners fought back with back-to-back set wins to take a 2-1 lead over the Bulldogs. Fresno State found the momentum to stay ahead throughout the fourth set and win 25-19 to force set five. Set five was a battle for the 'Dogs and 'Runners, but Fresno State picked up a late surge that put them on top, 15-12 to claim an overall 3-2 match victory.

NOTES

Addison Haluska delivered four service aces to top her previous career-high of three.

Brooke Cowie landed another double-double by adding 36 assists and 14 digs to her numbers today.

Fresno State beat the Roadrunners by their largest margin of victory so far this season in the first set with a 12-point lead.
