INDIANAPOLIS - Fresno State seniors Ana Bertozzi (equestrian) and Daphne Guevremont (water polo) have been named the Bulldog athletic department's nominees for the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year.
Bertozzi and Guevremont are among a record-breaking 619 student-athletes from across the nation who have been nominated by NCAA member schools for the award this year. Of the 619 nominees, 264 student-athletes are from a Division I institution.
The NCAA Woman of the Year program was established in 1991 and honors the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions. To be eligible, a nominee must have competed and earned a varsity letter in an NCAA-sponsored sport and must have earned her undergraduate degree by Summer 2023.
Ana Bertozzi - Fresno State Equestrian
Bertozzi, a native of Leesburg, Va., graduated with a 3.97 cumulative grade point average while earning her animal science degree with an emphasis in pre-veterinary studies. Bertozzi also had a women's studies minor.
In the 2022-23 year, Bertozzi was a fences All-American as she finished with a 10-2-0 record in the event.
She finished out the season with eight-straight fences points, winning from Nov. 17, 2022 through Mar. 25, 2023 and she was the only Bulldog to have a 10 win season in any event on the year

She earned academic awards as an NCEA All-Academic first team and NCEA Academic Honor Roll selection
Bertozzi volunteered her time in various ways around the Fresno State and Central Valley community - Saturday Sports, CASA, Blue Ridge Veterinary Services, Valley Animal Shelter, Echo Equine Veterinary Service, Beautify Fresno, Fresno County Horse Park, Madera Unified School District, and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Daphne Guevremont - Fresno State Water Polo
Guevremont, a native of Laval, Quebec, Canada, graduated with a 3.80 cumulative grade point average while earning her degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science. Guevremont also had a minor in animal science.
In the 2023 season, Guevremont was a senior leader on the Bulldog water polo team, leading the 'Dogs to their third-straight Golden Coast Conference championship title.
She was an All-GCC second team selection, finishing the season with 66 points – 37 goals and 29 assists. She added 10 drawn exclusions, 31 steals and seven field blocks.
She was named to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament team after scoring three goals on seven shots against No. 2 USC (May 12). She also had two steals.
Academic honors include: Fall and Spring semester Dean's List, GCC All-Academic team, and CSC Academic All-District selection
She leaves Fresno State as the program's leader in career games played (115), assists (132), steals (114), and field blocks (59). She is second in program history with 174 career goals scored.
