NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the 2023 All-Academic list on Thursday. Six Fresno State student-athletes earned the honor.
Fresno State's women's team earned the organization's team award for the fourth consecutive year under Director of Track and Field, Jason Drake. The 'Dogs held a 3.356 cumulative GPA.
Jordyn Bryant, a master's student in education – curriculum and instruction, became one of the top throwers in Bulldog history in just her first year after transferring to Fresno State. Fifth in the discus and sixth in the shot put in the Mountain West in 2023, Bryant ranks No. 4 in the discus (55.42m/181-10) and No. 5 in the shot put (15.77m/51-9) all-time at Fresno State.
Amelia DiPaola, an animal science major, earned all-academic for the third straight season. She was the second-ranked thrower in the MW this season. Her mark of 61.46m/201-8 is sixth in program history.
Cerah Moren, a master's student in education – curriculum and instruction, was the No. 4 javelin thrower in the conference in her lone season at Fresno State. She landed a personal best of 49.91m/163-9 this year.
Harriette Mortlock, a pre-health major, was the No. 3 javelin thrower in the MW. In her first season, the freshman landed a season-best mark of 49.99m/163-9.
Rachela Pace, a forensic behavioral major, saved her best for the conference championship, placing fifth in both the long jump and triple jump with then-lifetime bests of 5.97m/19-7 and 12.62m/41-5.
Chloe Wood, a master's student in kinesiology - sport psychology, ranked eighth in the MW in the javelin in 2023 with a personal-best throw 46.92m/153-11.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.00 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards: For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org. For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
