PHOENIX – Fresno State right-handed pitcher Roman Angelo has been signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks as an undrafted free agent.
Angelo spent two years with the Diamond 'Dogs, making 23 starts and 34 total appearances on the mound for the club.
In his time at Fresno State, Angelo struck out 122 batters (72 in 2023) and had a 4.57 ERA in 141.2 innings pitched as a Bulldog. In 2023, Angelo was named Mountain West Pitcher of the Week three times and earned All-MW second team honors. He was also awarded the Golden Spikes Performance of the Week following his first career complete game where he pitched a career-high 10 strikeouts and gave up only three hits and one walk in a 10-1 win over UNLV on May 13, 2023.
Before becoming a Bulldog, Angelo played for CSU Bakersfield where he spent three years with the Roadrunners, posting a 3.99 ERA in 126.1 innings pitched over 15 starts and 33 appearances.
Angelo closed out his five-year collegiate baseball career with 268 innings spent on the mound, striking out a total of 220 batters and holding opponents to a .239 average with a career ERA of 4.28.
