FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team is wrapping up the regular season with back-to-back games against Saint Mary's at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium on Thursday and Friday at 6:05 p.m. PT.

The Diamond 'Dogs are coming off a season sweep of the UNLV Rebels and a mid-week loss to the Cal Poly Mustangs to give them an overall record of 27-25.

CLINCHED – FRESNO BOUND

The Diamond 'Dogs have clinched a spot in the Mountain West Championship tournament that will be held at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium, starting Thursday, May 25.

Fresno State's seeding will depend on the results of the weekend series between New Mexico and San Diego State, but the 'Dogs can expect to be placed in the three or four slots.

SENIOR SZN

With the season coming to a close, Fresno State will be honoring seven seniors (Trevor Garcia, Travis Welker, Will Springer, Roman Angelo, Nikoh Mitchell, Blake Wink and Payton Allen) before Friday's game.

The Senior Day ceremony will begin at 5:45 p.m. PT on Friday

MOUNTAIN WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK – GRADY MORGAN

Grady Morgan had an electric week for the Bulldogs as he went 7-for-16 (.438) at the plate.

Morgan crushed three home runs and a double last week, with a team-leading 1.063 slugging percentage.

He made several impressive defensive plays with a diving catch in right-center and a leaping catch in right field and hit a two-run homer in Friday's dominant win over UNLV.

In Saturday's win over UNLV, Morgan hit his first back-to-back home runs in a Bulldog uniform, the first of which was on the first swing of the game.

MOUNTAIN WEST PITCHER OF THE WEEK – ROMAN ANGELO

For the third time in 2023, Roman Angelo has been named Mountain West Pitcher of the Week.

Angelo pitched his first career complete game in Fresno State's 10-1 victory over UNLV with only three hits and no earned runs against him.

Through nine innings he only allowed one walk and tossed a career-high 10 strikeouts while holding the Rebels to a .100 average.

MOUNTAIN WEST FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – MURF GRAY

Murf Gray is claiming his sixth Freshman of the Week award following his performance this week in contests with the Cal Poly Mustangs and UNLV Rebels.

Gray went 4-for-14 (.308) this weekend against UNLV with three RBI and a walk.

Defensively, he recorded two putouts and six assists.

A LOOK AT THE GAELS

The Gaels booked their spot in the WCC Tournament on Saturday, though the USD Toreros won two out of three over the weekend.

Saint Mary's is 21-24 on the season and is led at the plate by Gavin Napier who owns a .310 average with six home runs and 57 hits on the season.
