TUCSON, ARIZ. – Fresno State's Matthew Manganello closed out the 2023 Mountain West Men's Golf Championships with his second round of 66 this weekend at the OMNI Tucson National. The junior finished tied for sixth at 13-under par.
The Bulldogs ended the tournament in seventh at 16-under par (848—278-290-286). It was Fresno State's lowest score in its seven championship appearances at the course in Tucson.
Following a 71 on Saturday, Manganello moved up two spots on Sunday with a 6-under 66. The Bulldog played a bogey-free round, shooting 3 under on both the front and back nine's. He closed his tournament with three birdies in his final five holes including his last at No. 18. Manganello finished the tournament with 18 birdies, second-most in the field.
In his first MW Championship with Fresno State, Joseph Lloyd earned a Top 20 result finishing tied for 18th at 3-under par. The sophomore carded an even par final round and sank the Bulldogs' lone eagle on the weekend.
Matthew Sutherland was two strokes back of Lloyd at 1-under par after shooting a 69 on Sunday. The junior knocked in seven birdies in his final round.

Matthew Manganello carded the lowest 54-hole total (13-under 203) by a Bulldog at a conference championship in 30-plus years. *Note: Fresno State's scoring records only go back to 2000.
Manganello earned his highest conference championship finish, tying for sixth this week after finishing tied for seventh in 2022. It is the third-highest finish by a Bulldog at a MW Championship following Trevor Clayton (1st – 2016) and Alex Lee (4th – 2019).
Manganello became just the second Fresno State golfer to shoot a program-low 66 at a MW Championship this weekend and became the first to card two rounds of 66 at the championship.
Manganello tied his 54 hole career low with a 13-under par 203.
Joseph Lloyd's 3-under is tied the sixth-lowest 54-hole score by a Bulldog at an MW Championship.
Matthew Sutherland finished under par (-1) at the MW Championship for the first time in his career.
Sutherland's 69 on Sunday was his lowest round in a MW Championship.
