Fresno State looks to win its third-consecutive Golden Coast Conference tournament title this weekend.
Fresno State has won three-straight GCC regular season titles – 2021, 2022, 2023
Fresno State has won 22-straight GCC games dating back to March 27, 2021.
The Bulldogs rank No. 8 in this week's CWPA team rankings.
ALL-CONFERENCE RECOGNITIONS
The Bulldogs swept the postseason GCC awards as Brooke Ochoa was the Player of the Year and Hailey Andress was named Newcomer of the Year.
Ochoa was also an All-GCC first team selection. Goalkeeper Paula Nieto Jasny earned a spot on the all-conference first team.
Andress was joined by senior Daphne Guevremont on the All-GCC second team.
Senior center Jillian Schultz was named an All-GCC honorable mention pick.
Andress was also tabbed to the All-GCC freshman team.
BIG NUMBERS
Sophomore Brooke Ochoa leads the Bulldogs in scoring and points with 55 goals. She totals 82 points on the season. Ochoa is seventh in the GCC in goals, and in points.
Freshman Hailey Andress has 45 goals, enough for the second-most on the team. In GCC play only, Andress has netted 15 goals – the fifth-most among all players in the conference.
Senior Jillian Schultz leads the team with 65 drawn exclusions.
Cynthia Rosa has dominated in the sprints for the 'Dogs, owning a 58-3 record this season. Her 58 wins are the second most in the conference and third most nationally.
Rosa has a .951 sprint win percentage, a mark that leads the nation.
In goal, keeper Paula Nieto Jasny leads the conference with a 9.58 goals against average. Her 176 saves are the third-most among the conference keepers, and her .526 save percentage ranks second.
THE CONFERENCE IN THE NATIONAL POLLS
The Collegiate Water Polo Association National Coaches' Poll for week 15 (Apr. 26) has four GCC teams mentioned. Fresno State sits at No. 8 this week and Pacific is tied for 12th with UC San Diego. LMU follows at No. 17. San Diego State is No. 24.
FLASHBACK TO THE 2022 GCC TOURNAMENT
Fresno State entered the 2022 GCC tournament as the No. 1 seed. The Bulldogs opened the tournament against CBU, and came out with a 14-8 opening round victory. The Bulldogs next took down San Diego State 10-7 to advance to the championship game a season ago. Fresno State defeated LMU 11-8 in the championship game. Goalkeeper Paula Nieto Jasny was named the GCC Tournament Most Valuable Player.
