FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team dropped the final game against San Jose State this weekend 9-5 at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.

With the loss, the Diamond 'Dogs fall to 20-19 on the season (11-10 Mountain West) while the Spartans advance to 20-17 (13-5 MW).

NOTES:

Jack Anker made his first career start with three innings on the mound and tossed five strikeouts.

Sammy Augustine earned his 10th hit of the season with an RBI single down the left field line.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Spartans were the first to light the scoreboard with a two-run homer in the top of the third.

SJSU went on a seven-run scoring spree over the next four innings off seven hits and a balk. Fresno State retaliated with an RBI single from Sammy Augustine, but the Bulldog offense could not fully recover and fell 8-5 to the Spartans.
