BULLDOG BONES
Fresno State closes out its regular season competition at Santa Clara this Saturday. The 'Dogs are fresh off an off week.
With a win on Saturday, Fresno State wins the outright regular season GCC champion title. It will be the third consecutive year that Fresno State would win the regular season title.
The Bulldogs saw their 10-game winning streak come to an end at then-No. 3 UCLA on April 6, falling 15-7 to the Bruins.
Fresno State has won 21-straight GCC games dating back to March 27, 2021.
The Bulldogs rank No. 8 in this week's CWPA team rankings.
BIG NUMBERS
Sophomore Brooke Ochoa leads the Bulldogs in scoring and points with 54 goals. She totals 80 points on the season. Ochoa is sixth in the GCC in goals, and in points.
Freshman Hailey Andress has 44 goals, enough for the second-most on the team. In GCC play only, Andress has netted 14 goals – the fourth-most among all players in the conference.
Senior Jillian Schultz leads the team with 65 drawn exclusions.
Cynthia Rosa has dominated in the sprints for the 'Dogs, owning a 56-3 record this season. Her 56 wins are the second most in the conference and third most nationally.
Rosa has a .949 sprint win percentage, a mark that leads the nation.
In goal, keeper Paula Nieto Jasny leads the conference with a 9.96 goals against average. Her 165 saves are the third-most among the conference keepers, and her .527 save percentage ranks second.
SINGLE SEASON NUMBERS OUTLOOK
Brooke Ochoa's 54 goals through this point of the season are the third-most in a single season in program history.
Ochoa also has the third-most steals in a single season with 33 entering tomorrow's matchup.
Ochoa's 26 assists so far are the sixth-most in a season in program history.
Hailey Andress also broke into the Top 10 in single season goals. She has 44 entering this weekend's matchup, the seventh-most in program history.
Jillian Schultz has 65 drawn exclusions, a number that is the third-most in a single season in program history.
Ochoa (33), Daphne Guevremont (26) and Paula Nieto Jasny (26) are each in the Top 5 in program history for single season steals.
A LOOK AT THE RECORD BOOK
Daphne Guevremont moved into second in program history in career goals, surpassing Callie Woodruff. Guevremont currently has 167 career goals. Emily Nicholson holds the program record with 195 goals.
Guevremont now holds the program record for most assists in a career, surpassing Claire Schade. Guevremont has 127 assists in her career.
Guevremont also owns the program record for most career steals, grabbing 109 in her time as a Bulldog. She passed Nicholson, who held the record previously with 83.
Guevremont also has the program's record for most career field blocks with 56.
Jillian Schultz has the second-most drawn exclusions in a Bulldog career with 86. She passed Callie Woodruff and Trystyn Vuori on the program's list.
Goalkeeper Paula Nieto Jasny owns the program record in saves with 517 in her career.
Nieto Jasny also moved into a tie for fourth with 66 career steals.
WHAT'S STILL AHEAD?
Fresno State secured its third-straight No. 1 seed at the GCC tournament after defeating LMU 10-7 at home on April 1.
With the win, the Bulldogs also secured at least a share of the regular season GCC title.
Fresno State and LMU were both undefeated in conference play entering last Saturday's match, and LMU was picked as the preseason conference favorite.
San Diego State is this year's conference championship host. The Bulldogs will play down in San Diego on April 28-30.
SCOUTING SANTA CLARA
The Broncos are 10-18 overall and 1-5 in Golden Coast Conference play.
Santa Clara's conference win was a 12-11 win against CBU on April 13.
Maddie Clough leads the conference in assists (50).
Liyara Senadheera is second in the GCC in saves (176).
