FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team snapped its seven-game losing streak with a shutout win over San Diego State on Saturday.
After the 4-0 win, the 'Dogs now advance to 16-17 on the season (8-8 Mountain West) and the Aztecs sit at 13-18 (8-4 MW)
NOTES:
Starting pitcher Roman Angelo tossed a career-high eight innings, only allowing three hits and two walks with five strikeouts.
Reining three-time MW Freshman of the Week Murf Gray launched his fourth career home run.
Junior Tommy Hopfe crushed his 10th career and fourth home run of the season.
This was Fresno State's third shutout win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After four scoreless innings, Michael McKernan plated the first run of the afternoon with an RBI single to right.
The Bulldog offense lit up in the bottom of the sixth as Freshman Murf Gray crushed a long ball to left field. The momentum continued as Bobby Blandford hit a stand-up double out to right center and was plated by a moon shot from Tommy Hopfe.
Roman Angelo held the Aztecs scoreless with only three hits through eight innings. Tommy Hopfe took the mound to close out the shutout against the Aztecs with a three-frame inning.
