Three cities, three wins for the Bulldogs

WALNUT, Calif. – Fresno State's throwers shined on Friday at the Mt. SAC Relays, led by a 1-2 showing from Rhiannon Genilla and Harriette Mortlock in the javelin. Genilla won the event with her second throw over 50 meters this season.

Leading through two attempts with a mark of 49.49m/162-4, Mortlock was passed by her senior teammate in the third round. Genilla landed a throw of 50.14m/164-6 that proved to be the winning mark. Cerah Moren placed sixth in the competition at 47.68m/156-5.

A day after twice surpassing 16 meters in the shot put, and moving up to No. 2 at Fresno State in the event, Cierra Jackson eclipsed 16 again. On her third attempt today, the sophomore landed a toss of 16.10m/52-10 that earned her third place.

During the evening, Jordyn Bryant secured a fifth-place finish in the discus with a mark of 52.69m/172-10.

AZUSA, Calif. – Beginning the day in eighth in the her section of the heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Kaja Bins gained on the field in each of the remaining events to earn the win with a new personal best of 5,069 points.

Bins recorded the third-best marks in the field in each of the first two events of the day, the long jump and javelin. The senior registered a new PB in the long jump at 5.71m/18-8.75 and followed with a toss of 38.06m/124-10 in the javelin.

Sitting third going into the 800 meters, Bins finished the event with a new personal record of 2:24.39 to move into first, winning by three points.

Bins is the seventh heptathlete in program history to surpass 5,000 points.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Queen Okoh gave Fresno State its first win of the day, claiming first in the 100 meters during the afternoon at the Beach Invitational.

Clocking a time of 12.13, the Bulldog senior cruised to a win by more than more two-tenths of a second. It was her first-career win in the 100 meters.
