FRESNO, Calif. - On Saturday at 1 p.m. PT, the Fresno State football team will host its Spring Preview at Valley Children's Stadium. The event is FREE to the public.
The Spring Preview marks the end of the spring football season, and offers Bulldog fans a first glimpse at the 2023 team that is looking to defend its Mountain West championship. The team will hold its last scrimmage during the event, but it will start with the same warm-ups and individual drills the team practices on a regular basis.
The voice of the Bulldogs, Paul Loeffler, will serve as the in-venue emcee on Saturday to keep the Red Wave up-to-speed with Coach Tedford's practice plan and help identify the 2023 Bulldogs on the field making plays. Loeffler, joined by Pat Hill and Cam Worrell, will also be live on-air from the Spring Preview. Fans not in attendance can listen on the Bulldog Sports Network (FoxSports1340 or on the Varsity App).
The Fresno State football team is fresh off of its 10-4 season, capped by a Mountain West title and LA Bowl Championship. The Bulldogs were ranked No. 24 in the final team rankings in the AP Poll, and enter the 2023 season with the third-longest active winning streak in the FBS of nine games.
Fresno State is back under the direction of head coach Jeff Tedford. The offensive side of the ball sees new leadership in first-year offensive coordinator Pat McCann, who Tedford promoted to the position from wide receivers coach in January. Defensively, the Bulldogs are more comfortable heading into year two under defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle's scheme. Fresno State returns a bulk of its starters on a defense that ranked 14th in the FBS in scoring defense, holding opponents to an average of just 19.43 points per game.
On Saturday, fans will get their first in-person look at the Bulldogs' 15 mid-year additions including Division I transfers in quarterback Mikey Keene (UCF), running back Damien Moore (Cal), linebacker Tuasivi Nomura (USC), and defensive back Dean Clark (Kent State).
Saturday is also Fresno State Football alumni day as former Bulldog football players will be in and around Valley Children's Stadium throughout the length of Spring Preview, and Bulldog Block Party.
