RESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team fell 10-7 to the Long Beach State Dirtbags on Tuesday night at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.

The 'Dogs now hold a 15-16 overall record and the Dirtbags advance to 21-10 on the season.

Nikoh Mitchell and Jaden Sheppard led at the plate, each going 2-3 in Tuesday's matchup.

Travis Welker hit his first triple of the season in the bottom of the ninth.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Dirtbags snagged bases early with a double and a single to left field to start the top of the first and cleared the bases with a home run to left center.

The 'Dogs fired back in the bottom of the inning with an RBI double from Murf Gray to plate Ben Newton, and a 405-foot bomb from Tommy Hopfe to tie the game at three.

The 'Bags hit home runs in back-to-back innings to give them a 6-3 lead over the 'Dogs. LBSU extended their lead further in the top of the fourth with four more runs on four hits.

Fresno State answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning with singles from Jaden Sheppard, Tyler Davis, Travis Welker, and Nikoh Mitchell to make it a 10-6 ballgame.

After four scoreless innings, the 'Dogs surged late as Travis Welker led off the bottom of the ninth with his first triple of the season. A sacrifice fly from Ben Newton plated Welker, but the Bulldog offense was not able to bounce back and fell 10-7 to the Dirtbags.
