COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the first time in his collegiate career, Triston "Murf" Gray has been named Mountain West Freshman of the Week following his standout performance in a series sweep against UNLV.
Over the past week, Gray was a key factor in all four Bulldog matchups and owned a .375 average after having achieved six hits, two RBIs and three runs over 16 at bats.
Gray had a total of three hits in Saturday's victory against UNLV, the first of which was an RBI single in the top of the second inning.
In the seventh inning of Sunday's game, Gray hit to right center and was eventually sent home by a single. He came in clutch again in the eighth inning, but this time with a ground out to the shortstop that allowed the lead runners to advance and eventually score two runs in the 10-4 victory over the Rebels.
Defensively, Gray had six assists through the week with a .875 fielding percentage.
