LAS VEGAS – The Fresno State baseball team is headed to Vegas to battle with the UNLV Rebels this weekend. The 'Dogs are looking to bounce back from a 10-6 loss to Long Beach State on Wednesday evening.
The series will begin on Friday with the first pitch at 6:05 at Earl E. Wilson Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev.
THE BONES:
Work on the bump: Fresno State leads the Mountain West in pitching with a 4.34 ERA. Ixan Henderson leads the conference in strikeouts, racking up 34 over 28 innings pitched. Henderson holds the fourth-best ERA in the MW, sitting at 3.21 with six appearances and a 3-1 record.
Roman Angelo is not far behind as he sits in fifth place in the MW with 28 strikeouts over 22.2 innings. He also owns the sixth-best ERA in the conference at 3.57
Tommy Hopfe has made six pitching appearances this season out of 19 games played and has earned a spot in the top 10 in NCAA D-1 saves with five (tied for eighth).
'Dogs at the dish: Fresno State has an overall team batting average of .244. The 'Dogs are led at the plate by sophomore Bobby Blandford who has recorded a .291 average and .509 slugging percentage this season.
