Bulldogs start road trip through Golden State

BULLDOG BONES

The Fresno State softball team travels to play at Cal on Wednesday and then heads to Los Angeles for a three-game series at LMU on Friday and Saturday.

Fresno State also travels to play at Sacramento State on Tuesday before starting MW play at San Dieog State next weekend.

Fresno State's Keahilele Mattson leads the Bulldogs with a .371 batting average and a 1.139 OPS.

Alesia Denby (six) and Mattson (four) have combined to hit 10 of the Bulldogs' 13 home runs.

In the circle, Taylor Gilmore leads the team with a 2.72 ERA, 34 strikeouts and just three walks in 38.2 innings this season.

Fresno State leads the all-time series with Cal, 66-52.

Entering the eight-game road trip, Fresno State is tied for the Mountain West lead in triples (6) with New Mexico.

Fresno State head coach Stacy May-Johnson is in her second season with the Bulldogs.

GILMORE, DOUGHTY EARN ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM HONORS IN 2023 BULLDOG CLASSIC

Fresno State's Taylor Gilmore was named the Most Outstanding Pitcher in the 2023 Bulldog Classic. In the Bulldogs' three games in the tournament, which was played over three days at Margie Wright Diamond, Gilmore sported a 1-0 record with a 1.17 ERA and eight strikeouts in 7.2 innings in the circle.

Gilmore was also named to the 2023 Bulldog Classic All-Tournament Team, along with Abby Doughty, who hit a home run and triple and scored two runs, including the game-winning run in the Bulldogs' 4-3 win over the Maine Black Bears on Monday.

FRESHMEN ENTER THE CHAT

The Bulldogs have had multiple freshmen in their starting lineup this season.

Kennedy Bunker has started all 21 games at catcher this season. Emma Martinez has earned her spot at second base, starting 19 games so far this season. Jamie Hicks has chalked 16 starts this season, primarily at first base for the Bulldogs. She has also seen time as the designated player

Recently, Alyssa Rebolledo has chalked seven starts in the outfield while making 17 total appearances.

MATTSON PRODUCING AT THE PLATE

Keahilele Mattson is second in the Mountain West in on-base percentage (.494) and also ranks in the Top 10 in the conference in on base + slugging percentage (1.139), slugging percentage (.645), walks (13), batting average (.371), runs scored (16), home runs (4) and total bases (40).
