Seedings announced for Big 12 Championship

IRVING, Texas — The bracket for the 2023 Big 12 Equestrian Championship was announced Tuesday, and the Fresno State equestrian team earned the No. 3 seed for this year's championship. Fresno State will face No. 2 TCU in the first round. The championship will be held at Pedigo-Hull Equestrian Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma on March 24-25.

Fresno State has earned the No. 3 spot at the Big 12 Championship for the second-straight season. Fresno State's highest seeding for the Big 12 Championship was the No. 2 seed in the 2020-21 season.

Baylor, Fresno State, Oklahoma State and TCU will compete in four events under the two Equestrian disciplines: Western (Horsemanship, Reining) and Jumping Seat (Flat, Fences).

Oklahoma State (6-4, 4-2) claimed the top seed over TCU (11-2, 4-2) after each squad tallied a win in head-to-head matches. Fresno State (3-7, 2-4) and Baylor (5-8, 2-4) round out the third and fourth seeds, respectively.

The seedings were determined via a seeding grid that accounted for location, win/loss and NCEA rankings at the time of each conference match.

In Tuesday's final NCEA regular-season team rankings, TCU led the Conference at the No. 3 spot after ending their season with a 12-7 win over No. 9 Baylor. Oklahoma State followed at No. 5 after ending its season with a single-discipline win over the University of Lynchburg. Fresno State finished at No. 8 after knocking off the Cowgirls on March 4th on Senior Day.

The Big 12 Equestrian Championship will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. A full schedule of events will be released the week of the championship.
